Aims and Objectives
The aim of this project is to promote
the early repatriation of Bhutanese refugees with dignity and honour.
The objectives of this Digitalised Database
of Bhutanese Refugees is to prove that
- the people residing in the seven refugee camps in
Southeast Nepal are bonafide Bhutanese citizens who have, in their possession, various
types of documentary evidences to prove their origin and nationality,
- these people are legal owners of landed and housing
properties in Bhutan,
And to seek concrete support and
solidarity from all relevant quarters in commissioning an
- impartial and independent verification of the
Bhutanese refugees based on internationally accepted human rights norms and principles,
in facilitating...
- the early return of Bhutanese refugees to their
homes in Bhutan with guarantees of full restitution of their property and other
fundamental human rights.
The secondary objective is to assist the Bhutanese
refugee families to safeguard their documentary evidences from loss and deterioration, by
storing them in an electronic format.
